What has made him suddenly wake up to action flicks? John winks, “I have been doing action movies for last so many years but somehow the kind of role where I could get my body in motion has not really come to me. I want to crack that now because I have the required physicality to carry such a role. My viewers has been hungry to see a lot more of me after Dostana. Now I want to give them something so visually enthralling that they would love me even more”.

Does he want to reveal this secret project of his? John replies, “All that I can reveal right now is that I am in talks with a couple of directors and there should be a decision on this soon”. John gives details, “In any case, very soon I begin shooting for David Dhawan’s Hook Ya Crook which is commercial cinema at its best. It is a huge large scale comedy that would keep me engaged from January till March. After this I begin work for Abbas Mustan’s next which has the most beautiful script that I have read. The movie’s shooting would be during May to June time frame. It would be only after two movies that my action movie would begin”.

Meanwhile, he has just wrapped up his next flick with Yash Raj Films which is tentatively New York. The movie is expected to arrive towards the latter part of the first half of 2009 though ever so secretive Yash Raj Films yet to announce the exact time lines.

The movie is a remake of a Tamil film that was released three years ago, with songs written by N Muthukumar, but Joshi says the Hindi soundtrack is completely original. He says, “I did not even listen to the Southern version as I did not want to be influenced in anyway”. However, watched bits of the movie to “gather a feel of it”.

A little known fact about ad man Joshi is that he is a trained classical musician who likes to compose and sing as well, but he has given them a miss in Ghajini. He says, “I think it is very important for a lyricist to have a sense of music since it is then that the song shapes up wholly”. He has composed and sung jungles for Alpenliebe and Happy Dent, among others. He says, “But it is not something I would do for movies”.

Bollywood has heard enough complaints of Aamir Khan’s interference, but Joshi thinks otherwise. He says, “He is very intelligent man and when he has a suggestion, it is often valid. When it is not, we argue a lot and whoever has a more powerful logic wins. So I would say there is close understanding and mutual respect that allow us to bounce ideas off each other”.

Reportedly, not too long ago, a painting went missing from the sets. And the immediate suspect was Adhyayan himself. Why, you may ask?
